From exhilarating water slides and fast-paced casino action, to sunbathing on white sand beaches and snorkelling or diving in underwater paradise, there’s no shortage of adventures and experiences to suit every taste.
HIGHBOURNE CAY
After departing Nassau head towards Highbourne Cay and stop at “The Lost Blue Hole” for an amazing diving and snorkelling experience. At 80ft in diameter and 300ft deep it is a truly spectacular site, surrounded by beautiful coral and plenty of sea life. Upon arrival to Highbourne, take the tender to Allen’s Cay, home to the welcoming Rock Iguanas that wait on the beach for treats from visitors. Enjoy a hike to The Spring for far-reaching sunset views, or head to the fish cleaning station where you can watch a mix of Nurse and Lemon sharks await tasty snacks from the fisherman before heading back to Ammonite for dinner and drinks.
SHROUD CAY
The waters here are a diver’s dream: crystal clear, abundant with fish, and thought by many to be the bluest of all the waters in the world. Take an adrenaline- charged plunge at the Exuma Wall, a 75-foot drop-off facing the Exuma Sound, take a drift drive along fire coral reef or simply snorkel in the tranquil shallow spots. Make your way to Norman’s Cay, the notorious headquarters for Carlos Lehder’s drug smuggling operation back in his prime, where you can snorkel around a crashed plane covered by coral and surrounded by marine life of all kinds. For a naturalist’s paradise, cruise to uninhabited Shroud Cay, where you can paddleboard across the entire island through its natural river while being greeted by the many turtles who call the bordering mangroves home.
WARDERICK WELLS
On the way to the anchorage at Warderick wells you can stop at a dive spot known for the sharks who call it home. Dive some amazing reefs with large pinnacles while watching the sharks cruise the outer edges. Then set course for Warderick Wells, home to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, where explorers of all ages can revel in more than seven miles of coastal trails. One in particular, leading to Boo Boo Hill, is a favoured path that offers a spectacular panoramic view of the island, the anchorage, and Exuma Sound.
STANIEL CAY
From the splendid surrounding coves and beaches to vibrant over-the-water cottages that line its shore, Staniel Cay is a picturesque island filled with adventure. Tour Thunderball Grotto, the famous cave featured in several James Bond movies, visit Big Major’s Spot and swim with the popular swimming pigs, or take the tender to explore smaller cays unreachable by yachts and picnic on a sweeping sandbar. After a day of adventure, slow down and enjoy a cocktail and a bite at the new Staniel Cay Yacht Club restaurant.
GEORGETOWN, GREAT EXUMA
Today you’ll make way to Georgetown, the capital of Great Exuma, and put some lines in the water in hopes of catching some lovely tuna, wahoo or mahi-mahi for a fresh dinner. Anchor up and head of to the famous Chat N’ Chill bar right on the beach, where you can swim with stingrays and enjoy a fresh conch salad and some cocktails. Check out the amazing reefs surrounding the area offering some great spearfishing and diving.
COMPASS CAY
